In the middle of a small village stood a beautiful park. There were beautiful trees growing there, a small stream running through it, and various paths leading everywhere, where one could have a nice walk. All the children loved to go there. If you walked down one of those paths all the way to the middle of the park, you would find the best thing there was.
There was a little house. It had a red roof and brightly coloured curtains in the windows. The house was magical. It was a children’s library. And it was full of children’s books. For boys and girls. But what made this library special was that it had an extraordinary children’s reading corner. It was the kind of room where there were cushions and a comfy sofa and you could lie down as much as you wanted and browse or read the best stories from the books. But there was someone else in the corner. There was always a big, fluffy teddy bear sitting on that sofa. But he was no ordinary teddy bear. It was a fairy tale teddy bear.
One day, a little boy named Victor came to this library. He liked books very much and he liked all the adventure stories. When Victor came into the library and was looking around for a book to borrow, one of the books was lit up so strangely. Every time he looked at it, it flashed at him. It was irresistible. He had to borrow it. He picked it up and immediately sat down on the sofa in the reading corner. Right next to the teddy bear. He opened the book, it sparkled, and on the very first page was a magical sentence. “Don’t let slumber push you to the chair, and let some life come back into the teddy bear.” As Victor read it, the book began to flip through on its own. It lifted from his lap and magical glitter swirled around it. The words jumped out of it and the letters just danced. Then it lay in Victor’s lap. He just stared, not understanding what it was. “Well? Are we going to read?” Came an unfamiliar voice behind Victor. He turned around to find it was a teddy bear talking to him. “You’re talking?” Victor asked. “Yes, you brought me to life with a magical sentence in a book. Only this book can do that. I am a fairy bear librarian. I can read and talk and play with you now. When we finish the book, you read the last sentence and I’ll fall back asleep. But don’t worry, next time you can bring me back to life. If you read the first magic sentence in this book again.” Victor just smiled. He didn’t know that the teddy bear in the library could come to life. They read several books together. They talked about adventure stories and laughed a lot together.
From then on, Victor looked forward to going to the library even more. He loved running across the park every day, searching for the fastest way to get to the books. He sat down on the sofa and liked reading even more. Not only was he learning lots of new things, but he also had a helper there. The librarian bear.
