A lot of animals lived at the nearby zoo. Even though each animal had its own run, all the animals knew one another very well. Each night, once the visitors were gone, they talked to one another. They told each other stories about what they’d experienced that day and visited each other. Their human caretakers took good care of them, and the animals were happy and had good lives.

How Dr. Woodpecker knew how to deal with Mrs. Pine
Dr. Woodpecker lived in the forest and he was frequently visited by animals with various ailments. Although he mainly treated trees, he was always able to deal with sick forest animals. One day, the Kráčmerka jay fly to him. There was nothing missing, but she was out of breath and had to exhale before she was able to get the word out. Then she began begging Dr. Woodpecker to fly quickly to Mrs. Pine with her. Something is bothering her and no one knows what to do. The Woodpecker was their hope that Pine would recover. So he packed his medical case and flew with the jay to that place.

She used to play in the royal garden with a glass ball. It was her favourite toy. She always threw it up in the air and caught it in her hands. She would sing and dance to it. But one day, the ball didn’t come back into her hands. Instead, it fell straight into the well.
