Pirate Beard and the Quest for Treasure

Long, long ago there was a pirate. The pirate came from a poor island, but he decided to save his island and find a lost treasure. He sailed alone across the Pacific Ocean on his great pirate ship with his tiny crew. His crew consisted of himself, a pirate captain named Beard, and his faithful parrot Apollo. Captain Beard had a big dream – to find the lost treasure that would lift his little island out of poverty.

So as Captain Beard sailed with his parrot, he explored every little island he came across. But all he found after exploring the island, besides the jungle, was exotic fruit or beautiful shells lying on the beach. However, Pirate Beard decided that he would not just give up and find the legendary treasure one day. But he knew he wasn’t the only pirate in the ocean searching for the treasure. Years passed and passed, but the pirate still hadn’t found the treasure.

So one night, full of lightning and thunder, as he was passing the cliffs in his big wooden ship, his parrot sitting on his shoulder cried out: “I see islaaand, Capitaine Beard! Right in front of my nose!” The parrot cried out and pointed with his wing to the island in front of them. The captain raised his eyes from the helm of the ship, scratching his long grey beard as a small turtle-shaped island began to emerge from the clouds. He had never seen such an island before! “Oh, my! It must be a strange island if it’s shaped like a turtle, let’s go explore it!” The captain said proudly, and steered his pirate ship over the cliffs towards the green island.

The captain sailed between the reefs, avoiding the dangerous waves that hit his boat. Finally, he ran aground and anchored his ship. The sky suddenly brightened and the sun flooded the island. It was strange because the storm behind them was still fighting with the ocean. Captain Beard came out of the boat, along with his faithful partner, Apollo the parrot. The captain began to explore the island, passing the sandy beach, the palm trees, and the jungle that was in the centre of the island. His parrot flew high above him, checking to see if he could see anything from above.

“Attention, snake!” Apollo shouted to his Captain Beard as a large snake appeared on the ground in front of the captain. The captain jumped, but noticed that the snake was slithering towards a large cave that was hidden among the trees in the jungle. The captain decided to follow the snake into the cave. Beard lit a torch and set out to explore the mysterious cave. His friend the parrot followed him.

As the pirate explored the mysterious cave, suddenly the snake crawled up to a large chest and wrapped itself around it. “I am the keeper of this treasure, if you answer my questions correctly, the treasure is yours!” hissed the snake at the pirate. Pirate Beard took a deep breath and nodded.

The first question from the snake was, “What shape is this hidden islaaand that surrounds the storms and cliffs?” He asked. Captain Beard adjusted his pirate hat and proudly replied, “A turtle!” The answer was correct, the snake just nodded hissingly.

The snake continued with another question: “How do you plan to use the treasuuure?” The pirate took a deep breath and answered. He was a pirate, but his heart was in the right place and he knew exactly what he was going to do with the treasure. “I come from a poor island, so I promise the treasure is only to return the wealth to the people of the island in the form of food and water, which they so desperately need,” Captain Beard replied confidently. The snake nodded, slithered away from the chest, and nodded in the pirate’s direction that the treasure was his.

And how did Pirate Beard act? Did he keep his promise and help the poor island? What did he really do with the mysterious treasure? That, children, we will find out in the next part.
