Bunny Bing welcomes spring

On that day for many hours, Bing Bunny was looking for spring flowers

After a hard winter, spring has finally arrived. Bing Bunny was running in his boots in the remnants of melting snow and jumping happily into puddles. Flop watched him with interest, enjoying the warm sunshine.

“Gee, Flop, look! That’s a pretty flower,” cried Bing, pointing to a cluster of small white flowers in the grass.

“Those are snowdrops,” said Flop.

“Snowdrops? Are they named after snow because they grow in it?” Bing asked curiously.

“No, Bing. They don’t grow in snow, but when the snow comes down. They’re one of the first flowers to peek out of the ground in the spring.”

“Oh, look, there’s another snowdrop. And it’s much bigger,” Bing ran further into the garden.

“That’s not a snowdrop, that’s a snowflake. See? It has a bigger flower and looks more like a pale bellflower.”

Bing examined the flower with interest.

“Let’s look for more flowers,” Bing decided, and ran out of the garden to the meadow.

“All right, Bing, but slow down so I can keep up,” Flop called after him.

On his way to the meadow, Bing saw Sula sitting on the ground crying next to a pile of snow.

“Hello Sula. What happened to you?” Bing asked.

Sula pointed to the pile of snow. Only now did Bing notice that there was a carrot sticking out of it and a pot lying on the ground in the grass a little further away.

“Was that your snowman?” Bing asked.

Sula just nodded and continued to cry. Bing felt sorry for Sula. She had made such a good snowman and she loved playing with it every day. And now the snowman was gone.

“Flop, could you fix Sula’s snowman?”

“Oh, Bing, there’s no more snow to fix it with. Snow turns to water in the heat. It melts in the spring and falls again in the winter,” explained Flop.

“I’m so sorry, Sula. It can’t be fixed.”

Suddenly, Bing had an idea to cheer Sula up.

“You know, spring may be knocking down our snowmen, but in return it’s pulling the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen out of the ground. They’re as white as snow!” Bing was bursting with excitement.

Sula didn’t cry anymore and listened to Bing curiously.

“Come, I’ll show you where they grow.”

Bing and Sula came to the meadow. Bing immediately showed Sula the snowdrops and the snowflakes. Sula was very fond of flowers, and she liked these very much.

“They are beautiful, Bing. They remind me of snow, which I also like. I don’t mind at all that my snowman has melted. I’m sure such beautiful flowers will grow instead.”

In a few days there was no sign of snow. Bing was just swinging on the swing when Sula came running up to him.

“Bing! You have to see this! Instead of a snowman, a whole field of colorful flowers grew in my garden!”

Bing immediately stopped swinging and followed Sula. And indeed, the place where the snowman had stood just a few days ago was teeming with colorful flowers. They were beautiful, yellow, purple, white and red.

“Gee, snowdrops are colorful, too, Flop?” Bing wondered.

“They’re crocuses,” said Flop, smiling.

“Spring is beautiful,” sighed Sula, looking at the colorful flowers with love in her eyes.

Bing returned to the playground where Pando was waiting for him.

“You’re late, Bing.”

“I’m late, Pando, sorry.”

“It’s okay,” said Pando. “Tell me, what kept you so late?”

“I was playing in the puddles after lunch. I found spring flowers, snowdrops and bluebells. But then I met Sulu. She was very sad because her snowman had melted. So I showed her the flowers so she could have something to be happy about again. And today she came to show me that instead of a snowman, flowers grew in her garden, colored crocuses.”

“Spring is beautiful. I love all the bright colors,” said Pando, and the two friends went to swing on the swings.
